About Bobbie Myers Bobbie graduated from San Jose State University in the 60s with a degree in geology and art. After graduation she worked as a geologist for the U.S. Geological Survey and also pursued a part-time career in fine art and scientific illustration. |
In 1981 Bobbie transferred to the Geological Survey's Cascades Volcano Observatory in Vancouver, Washington. At the Observatory she had the opportunity to use both her geology and art training. She retired from the USGS in 2008. Bobbie served on the board of the Arts Council of Clark County for 6 years. She is a member of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society and Society of Washington Artists. | |
Bobbie's first love is Pen & Ink, however she also works in other media. Her subjects range from landscapes and buildings to animals. Bobbie has won awards for her Pen & Ink drawings, Watercolors, and Colored Pencil work. The city of Vancouver purchased a suite of her drawings of Historic Officers' Row buildings as gifts for mayors of several cities in Japan. Bobbie's art work has been reproduced as note cards, book covers, and illustrations; several of her illustrations were in a traveling Smithsonian exhibit. She has also created several animated sequences for films on volcanic hazards. Currently Bobbie is concentrating on custom drawings of pets and homes. | |
